TV Girl
TV Girl is an American indie pop band from San Diego, California, formed in 2011. The band consists of Brad Petering (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Porter Ray (bass, keyboards), and Jason Wyngarde (drums).
TV Girl’s music has been described as a mix of “1960s French pop, ’80s new wave, and contemporary hip-hop.” The band has cited artists such as Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc, and Air as influences.
TV Girl released their debut album, French Exit, in 2012. The album was well-received by critics, with Pitchfork calling it “a smart, funny, and often moving album.”
TV Girl’s second album, Who Really Cares, was released in 2014. The album’s lead single, “Benny and the Jetts,” was named one of the best songs of 2014 by Pitchfork.
TV Girl’s third album, The Wild, The Innocent, & The TV Shuffle, was released in 2016. The album was praised by critics, with Consequence of Sound calling it “a perfect balance of classic pop sensibilities and modern production.”
