Joseph – The Band
Joseph is an American indie folk band from Portland, Oregon, composed of sisters Allison and Meegan Closner. The band is currently signed to Universal Music Group and their debut album, Native Dreamer Kin, was released on October 7, 2016. The album was produced by Mike Mogis and features contributions from Nate Query of The Decemberists and Jenny Conlee of The Decemberists and The Minus 5.
The sisters grew up in a musical family and were influenced by a wide range of genres, including country, rock, pop, and folk. They began writing songs together as teenagers and self-released an EP, The Way We Fall, in 2012. The EP caught the attention of Mogis, who offered to produce their debut album.
The band has been praised for their harmonies and songwriting, with The New York Times describing their music as “wistful, dreamy folk-pop”. Their single “White Flag” was used in a commercial for Google Home and was featured in an episode of the television series This Is Us.
