Joywave
Joywave, an American indie rock band from Rochester, New York, is performing at the Newport Music Hall on Friday, April 14, 2023. The band is composed of five members: Daniel Armbruster (lead vocals, guitar), Joseph Morinelli (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Kevin Mahoney (bass guitar), Paul Brenner (drums), and Benjamin Bailey (keyboards, saxophone).
Joywave first gained recognition with the release of their debut EP, Koda Vista, in 2012. The band’s debut album, How Do You Feel Now?, was released in 2015 and peaked at number one on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. The band’s second album, Content, was released in 2017 and reached number two on the US Billboard Alternative Albums chart.
Joywave’s music has been described as “indie rock with a synth-pop bent”. The band has cited artists such as David Bowie, Talking Heads, Prince, and Michael Jackson as influences.
